We are excited to announce we are having a baby!! We had been trying for 2 years, and were starting down the road of infertility treatments. We met with the infertility specialist only 1 time, we both got blood work done that came back perfect. We had Josh tested for any issues, and I had a tentative date scheduled for a small procedure to check my plumbing. My procedure kept getting re-scheduled because it was around Thanksgiving weekend, then it got postponed again because it was Christmas when they wanted to schedule it again. During this time my Grandmother was very ill and we were not really focused on the infertility. My sweet Grandma joined the Lord on Christmas day 2012. The weeks to follow were kind of a blur dealing with the funeral arrangements and much sadness. I had completely lost track of my period and decided to take a pregnancy test on January 12th...It was POSITIVE!!! I was in complete and utter shock. I paced the house for a minute not knowing what to do. I called Josh at work, he didn't answer, so I called again, still no answer. Two minutes later he called me back wondering why I was calling him at work. I asked him if he was sitting down he said "ya, I am in my office, why? what's up? I told him we were pregnant. He gasped and asked if I was serious, I told him yeah, I think so, I took a test and two lines showed up. I heard him start to get choked up and then I lost it too, we cried in joy together on the phone.
We saw the heartbeat for the first time on January 24th I was 5/12 weeks, it was a tiny little flicker on the ultrasound screen, but it was totally noticeable. We went back one week later and saw the heartbeat even stronger and the little peanut had grown a few millimeters. We were thrilled. . We have since have had one more ultrasound at 8 1/2 weeks where we got to see the baby again actually looking like a human this time with a head, arms & legs. We also got to hear the heartbeat for the first time. That was the most amazing sound ever. We have our next ultrasound appointment scheduled for tomorrow afternoon. This appointment was optional, it is to check for birth defects or genetic problems. We are anxious, and praying for good news.
Dad and I are so thrilled for you both and pray every day for a healthy pregnancy. Can't wait to start shopping for maternity clothes.
